AIACCL INTRODUCTIONS AIALI15 CO-CHAIRS

Staring in July of 2014, the AIA Center for Civic Leadership launched into an 18 month planning effort for the 2015 AIA Leadership Institute. Inspired by the original AIA Leadership Institute in partnership with Georgetown University (2005), the relaunch of this program has shifted towards integration of technology to enhance grassroots leadership in the planning process. The model increases overall accessibility and affordability for participants, shifting total capacity from approximately 20-30 to 250. The multi-venue hybrid model is inspired by a conference idea that the AIA Technology in Architectural Practice developed for a program in 2010. Two Co-Chairs have been named to lead the national planning team for this event:

Je’Nen Chastain, Assoc. AIA, LEED GA

Je’Nen is Co-Chair of the 2015 AIA Leadership Institute, and Vice Chair of the AIA Center for Civic Leadership (AIACCL). She brings over 8 years of experience leading, collaborating, and contributing to positive transformation within the profession through the AIA, and has been an active member with the AIACCL since 2010. She is a Designer at Heller Manus Architects in San Francisco, a Richard Upjohn Fellow of the AIA, and a former President of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS). She is also an MBA  Candidate at Mills College in Oakland.

Jonathan Penndorf, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Jon joined the AIA Leadership Institute Planning Team as Past Chair for the Young Architects Forum (YAF). Stepping forward as Co-Chair of the program, he has been working alongside Je'Nen to develop the overall vision for the program, organizing agreements with the Regional Venues, and engaging the YAF team members in the planning process. A national leader of the AIA and the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) National Capital Region Chapter, Jon also currently serves on the AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) Advisory Group. He is a Senior Associate and Sustainability Leader / Project Manager with Perkins+Will in Washington, DC with 14 years of experience.
