There is no day like today to engage in the environmental, civic, and social discourses we as architects face when shaping the world around us. California has been impacted by wildfires, a housing shortage and density in our cities. Jonathan Segal, FAIA Development Company
Jonathan Segal and Development Company have been responsible for the design and development of over 300 medium to high-density urban residential, mixed use, and live/work units totaling over 300,000 square feet of construction. Jonathan is considered one of downtown San Diego's most successful and pioneering residential architectural/development companies. Their focus is exclusively on urban projects, ranging from 80 to 160 dwelling units per acre. Over the last 19 years Jonathan has been the recipient of numerous accolades including 24 local, state and national AIA awards for residential and Urban Design.

Deana Moore, Marchitecture Studios
Deana Moore is a marketing, branding, and business development consultant whose primary focus is helping new startups and small businesses grow quickly and efficiently. Her dual expertise in architecture and marketing allow her to guide companies through the creative process resulting in cohesive brand experiences. She also advocates for startups, entrepreneurs and small businesses to have access to the same tools, resources, and benefits as large companies and corporations. She founded her consulting studio, The Markitecture Studio, to help entrepreneurs have an affordable, reliable, and effective means to launch and grow their business and actively mentors at many of the top venture capital-backed accelerators across the country.
Zigmund Rubel, FAIA, NCARB
Zigmund (Zig) Rubel is the President and CEO of A Design+Consulting, a firm specializing in data driven processes to plan, design, and construct healing, learning and discovering buildings. The firm provides design services, operations consulting practice and technology strategies for its clients. Zig has over 25 years of experience and has worked on over 20 million SF of healthcare facilities throughout the world. He helped define the AIA’s Guide for Integrated Project Delivery and its adoption in Healthcare projects. He holds five US patents for building products and software. Zig is a founding Board Member and Secretary of the Center of Innovation in the Design and Construction Industry.
Kevin Hackett, Siol Studio
Kevin Hackett was born in Limerick, Ireland and spent his childhood immersed in the rugged landscape of the Irish West Coast. Kevin worked at award-winning firms in Ireland, Paris, and Shanghai before moving to San Francisco, where he was appointed Design Director for British architect Johnny Grey’s U.S. office. In 2007, he co-founded Síol with Jessica Weigley with the intention of promoting a multidisciplinary mindset. Together, they have established a new typology of practice, one focused on an integrative design process that explores a deeper connectivity between self and place. Kevin has been lecturing on Architecture and Design in the Bay Area since 2006 and currently teaches a class on Design Philosophy at Academy of Art University.
Leanna Libourel, AIA, Pacific Property Partners
Leanna Libourel, AIA, is as an architect and real estate developer with a specialty in value management. After working at traditional architecture and owner representative firms, Leanna branched off to found Libourel Development, where she creates her own services and developments. Her experience spans institutional, mixed use, hospitality, commercial office, and single-family residential development. As the former AIACC/NCARB Architect Licensing Advisor for Southern California and current AIA Young Architect Regional Director for Southern California she is connected with AIA groups at the local, State and National levels and is a strong advocate for mentorship. Through mentorship and speaking engagements she strives to increase the profile of women in the profession.
